Situational Analysis - School Improvement Plan 2021-23

The department of education has allowed several terms for schools to develop their School Improvement Plans, commencing with a situational analysis. As part of that process, we have consulted our stakeholders on what values we would like to emphasise in our school over the next three years. There was a strong consensus on the chosen four. As a community, now that we have established our values (Integrity, Respect, Compassion & Dedication), we need to explore what these values might mean in practice. We are investigating our selected values through a frame of reciprocal responsibility. We apply the concept to our relationships. Values will not characterise our culture unless all stakeholders buy in to the belief system. Values can be operationalised through our stated expectations of each other. What do these values look like in practice – in expectations and actions?

We are asking a generic question for us all around expectations. We can examine these in word matrices. What do various constituents of our community expect from each other in terms of these values? In academics, what are the expectations, staff of students, students of staff, students of each other, staff of each other? In administration, what are the expectations, the Executive of teaching and non-teaching staff, teaching and non-teaching staff of the Executive, the Executive of each other and teaching and non-teaching staff of each other. In community relations what are the expectations, parents of students, parents of staff, parents of each other, staff of parents, students of parents? In sport, what are the expectations, coaches of students, coaches of staff, coaches of parents, coaches of each other, students of coaches, students of parents, students of staff, students of each other, staff of coaches, staff of parents, staff of students, staff of each other, parents of coaches, parents of staff, parents of students, parents of each other?

The School endeavours to write programs, policies, procedures and processes to address these relationships, but we rarely examine the guiding values that underpin them.  If we are to make values-driven changes, we must have explored them thoroughly. Governors Centre Update

Our PCG visit to the Governors Centre this week found that much had been done. The first floor examination and conference room is just about ready. The operable wall is in place and functioning. The AV has been installed as well as the stainless-steel fit-out of the servery.  The foyer is complete except for the A-V but the kiosk fittings are in place. The Green Room and change rooms/toilets will be ready in a couple of weeks. The theatre has the majority of the seats installed and the sprung stage is being finalised.  There are some components held up by shipping delays. The landscaping and roadworks are finished with just some exterior lighting to be completed. If you want to be part of this historic building and haven’t donated yet, final signature bricks in the ‘wall of gratitude’ ($1000) and name plaques on seats ($3000) are still available before being closed ready for installation. Summer Sport Co-Payments: Term 4 

The rolls for summer sports and activities have now been finalised. In many activities co-payments are levied for the season – in this case Term 4 2020 and Term 1, 2021. Other sports have a policy of fixing co-payments on a term-by-term basis. In either case, invoices have now been posted. For Years 7-10, this means that the summer  sport invoice will be included on individual Clearance Forms. These forms will need to be cleared prior to boys receiving their reports. The base co-payment for sport for a season is $176 for 2020-21. Higher charges are levied by individual sports as a result of resolutions passed by the Associations or P & C Support Groups responsible for supporting particular sports. Year 11 boys have been invoiced for Term 4 for their full summer sport, too. It would help the MICs for these sports greatly if families could pay for their sports in the next ten days.
