Sydney Boys High School participates in two swimming competitions: the GPS
Invitational Carnival series and the CHS competition in the Eastern Suburbs
Zone. The school's annual swimming carnival is held in early February and all
boys are expected to attend. The school carnival includes as a showcase event
the GPS invitational relay.
GPS Carnivals
GPS Invitational Carnivals
are held on Friday nights (7pm - 9pm) in Term 1. From the selection
events at these Carnivals a GPS Representative team is chosen to swim
at the CIS Carnival. In 2010, six boys represented the GPS in the CIS swimming
carnival: Max Chien, Darren Chien, Eugene Lee, Dominic Mah, Leonard Mah and
Kazuo Nakamura.
Zone, Regional, CHS and All Schools Carnivals
The results of the school swimming carnival are used to select the GPS Team and
the Eastern
Suburbs Zone Team. Some swimmers then proceed to swim at
the Sydney East Regional and CHS Final Carnivals. In 2010, Sydney Boys High
School students Kazuo Nakamura, Leonard Mah, Shaun Pak and Max Chien were Zone
