Cricket is one of the major GPS sports.
Sydney Boys High School competes against the other seven Sydney-based
GPS schools. The competition takes place on Saturdays in Terms 4 and 1.
Matches start in October and continue in November, February and
March. Strictly speaking, the GPS competition is only the 1st and 2nd
XIs. However, matches are played between GPS schools at all age levels.
Sydney High has won the GPS cricket championship in seven
years: 1933, 1934, 1938, 1968, 1979, 1982 and 1994. In 1994, Sydney
High won the GPS Championship and went on to represent NSW in the
national championships.
