Cricket is the most prestigious GPS Summer Sport. Sydney Boys High School
competes against the other seven GPS schools on Saturdays during Term 4 and 1.
High has won the GPS cricket premiership on seven occasions: 1933, 1934, 1938,
1968, 1979, 1982 and 1994.

High Cricket Program
Juniors
Junior Cricket Students train weekly on Thursday
Afternoons from 1-3pm. Training takes place at the School Cricket Nets, SCG
Indoor Centre or Moore Park West. Group 1 teams in addition practice a further
two times a week in either morning or afternoon sessions.
Seniors
Senior Cricket Students train weekly on Wednesday Afternoons from
1-3pm. Training takes place at the School Cricket Nets, McKay Oval or Moore Park
West. The 1st and 2nd XI in addition practices a further two times a week in
either morning or afternoon sessions.
Tours
Australian 5 Highs Carnival
The Sydney Boys High 1st XI competes in the
Australian 5 High Cricket Carnival with Melbourne, Brisbane State, Adelaide and
Kent Street Senior (Perth) High Schools. The carnival occurs annually in
December.
Louis Barberis Cup
Each year 12 Year 9 students are selected to compete in
the Louis Barberis Cup against Melbourne High School.
East Coast Cup
The 14A’s and 15A’s compete with the Brisbane State School
annually in the East Coast Cup.

Junior Cricket Students will also experience weekly coaching from our Lead
coach Tim Roslin. Tim has over 20 years of experience coaching cricket in both
English and Australian Schools and was involved in the development of English
Cricket International Alastair Cook.
The High Cricket Program is also privileged
to have Mr David Smith as a Junior Cricket Coach. Mr Smith is a Sydney High Old
Boy and current PD/H/PE teacher at the school. During his school years, Mr Smith
was a 1st XI player from 1978-1980, and captained the school to a GPS
premiership in 1979 and NSW CHS Davidson Shield in 1980.

we require the support of parents. Parents are encouraged to assist with Parking
and Scoring during the season as well as the Annual High Cricket Season Launch
