There are two libraries at Sydney Boys High School. The KJ Andrews Library and the McDonald Senior Library.

It is library policy to nurture High’s uniquely talented students by giving them quality learning environments and a chance to experience maximum engagement.

Both libraries work in concert to offer students generous opportunities to access computers for self- directed learning and a constantly refreshed range of traditional book, periodical and DVD material to borrow.

Both libraries share the Softlink Oliver library management system. Students can search the catalogue from any school computer or from home via the the library enquiry system. Students can access the library enquiry as well as information about overdue items or books presently on loan via the My Library section of the Sydney Boys High School Student Portal.

Both libraries offer access to online databases. Students can access these on any school computer or from home via the Online Databases section of the Student Portal.

In both libraries students can borrow up to 10 items. The common loan period for most items is one month. High use items, including DVDs, study guides and magazines have a one week loan period. Students are encouraged to borrow books for over school holiday periods.

The libraries maintain their catalogue home page to be wonderful page of current displays - the newest resources both Senior and Junior Libraries, how to perform a federated search across multiple data sources, how to access e-books, current SRC (Student Representative Council) events and student 'picks' from the school's e-book collection. Students are regularly emailed library information such as the newest books or requests to return and renew loans.

Both libraries run events throughout the school year including as the Amateur Chess Tournament, Manga Film Festivals and author visits annually to stimulate interest in ongoing Library activities or parts of its collection.
