Y12 Assessment Exams (changed)
The current situation with COVID-19 has caused significant concern for staff and students.

The school moved into online mode from Tuesday 24 March to reduce the possibility of students and staff interacting with people carrying the virus, either when travelling to and from school or during school hours.

There were expressions of concern for the safety of students if the Y12 Assessment exams were held next week. However, there was also concern about the validity of assessment calculations if the tasks weren't held.

Year 12 were surveyed this on Thursday 26 March with the following options:

1 Run the examinations as scheduled

2 Have normal timetabled lessons online in Weeks 10 and 11 and postpone the examinations to a future date where possible

The result was overwhelming:

46 Run the exams

155 Have normal timetabled lessons in Weeks 10 and 11.

Consequently, we have decided not to run the assessment timetable as scheduled.

The English Advanced Assessment task will still run on Wednesday 1 April but has been converted into a task which is submitted online through Canvas by 2pm. Notification of this was sent on Thursday 26 March.

Other faculties will advise students of their plans when a decision has been made. As appropriate notice has already been given for the upcoming assessment period, faculties would not be required to give two weeks notice of a rescheduled task. If other tasks are converted to online tasks they could be run in the same or a later timeslot.

Stay well.
