Sydney Boys High School offers opportunities for its students that are not available to any other public school student in the State. The success of our boys and the outstanding reputation of the School from which we all benefit, is a result of the well rounded education our boys receive, including rigorous sporting competition, leadership training and community service, academic competitions, debating and public speaking, creative and performing arts opportunities – all while pursuing academic excellence.

The facilities our boys currently enjoy, at a fraction of the cost of a private school, were made possible not only by government funding but through significant generous donations by past generations of parents and students. Sydney Boys High has only been able to achieve what it has in the course of its 129 year history because parents, old boys and other members of the High family have joined together to build the future of the School.

The Sydney High School Building Fund is used to improve existing facilities and provide new ones that cannot be funded by the government.

The Governors Centre

The targeted project for SHS Building Fund is the a new multipurpose centre, which is urgently needed to expand and upgrade our teaching, examination, performing arts and debating facilities. This is a major capital works commitment that includes the design and construction of a new multi-level building named The Governors Centre for Excellence in Education, a joint project of Sydney Boys High School and Sydney Girls High School. The building, which takes its name from Sir Roden Cutler and Dame Marie Bashir - governors of NSW and distinguished alumni of each school - will front Cleveland Street and be located between the two schools adjacent to the Sydney Boys High School gymnasium.

How can I help?

The Governors Centre is the most ambitious project ever undertaken by Sydney Boys and Sydney Hirls High Schools. The schools' communities enjoy faciltiies as the direct result of the generousity of families and alumni.

To achieve this target as soon as we can and get this project underway, we are asking you to contribute at least $600 to Sydney High School Building Fund:
